Tapiture’s hold on the top spot of the First-Crop Sires winners’ list got a little stronger on Sept. 16 when Ready to Tap broke her maiden going 1 mile and 70 yards at Belterra Park.
The 2-year-old filly is Tapiture’s 14th winner this year, and his fourth this month. He also added a second stakes horse to his resume with Peruvian Boy’s third-place effort in the Arlington-Washington Futurity on Sept. 7.
Ready to Tap broke outward leaving the gate, but soon made her way to the front going into the first turn. She widened her lead as she passed each pole, until gearing down late to win by 2 1/4-lengths (VIDEO).
Ready to Tap is owned by Bantry Farms and was bred in Kentucky by Wynnstay LLC. Her dam Set’n On Ready was a stakes winner and is from the same family as graded stakes winners Comic Strip and Silver Comic.
